Q'S SUPPER CLUB 162 MARKET STREET

Q’s Supper Club was established in September 1982 and was open for about 10 years. It was one of the most hip and happening clubs of its time. Q’s Supper Club was a forerunner of a new breed of high tech clubs in Johannesburg.

Q’s was co-owned by Nigel Ninow and Ricky Ho and ably assisted in the running of the business by Sue Ninow and Julian Cohen who was the manager.

Q’s hosted many fashion shows, photo shoots and prestigious events. The sound and lights systems where all imported from America. They were top of the range and first of its kind in South Africa.

They also featured top DJ’s such as Nicky Yessemis, Maurizio Bazan, Saan, Jay St. James and Nigel Ninow. Top bands that where residents at Q’s included The Rockets, Walk This Way, Café Society and Syndicate.

One of the most popular nights at Q’s Supper Club where the ladies nights, run by Sue Ninow and featured top male exotic dancers and fashion shows. Q’s also featured a top class restaurant on the upper level overlooking the dance floor. And not to forget their unique colour scheme of electric blue and shocking pink.

It was truly the place to be.

  1. We happen to meet a great people there and started to chat with them and drink w/them too. I had a great time here, glad we found this place by accident. Will definitely come to Los Angeles event venues again as anyone will make this a regular spot easily.
